Easy Homemade Salsa : The Best You’ll Ever Have

Do to an over abundance of tomatoes this year on the farm I have found myself scrambling to use them up quickly. Salsa is a great way to make something yummy everyone will enjoy.

I make mine in a food processor…no cooking 🙂 See it just keeps getting easier.

Makes approximately 8 cups of salsa.

  • Quarter 6-7 Roma Tomatoes or whatever Tomatoes you have on hand. Romas are a small to medium tomato so if you use large varieties you will need less tomatoes. Basically fill up the food processor bowl with tomatoes.
  • Remove the seeds from 1 large bell pepper. Rough slice and add to processor.
  • Rough cut 1 small onion. Add to processor.
  • Rough chop 3-4 cloves of garlic (depending on personal taste)
  • Cut a lime in half and squeeze the juice from 1/2 on top of tomatoes, peppers, onions and garlic.
  • For somewhat spicy salsa I add half a jar of jalapeños to the food processor. It's got a little kick. Use less for mild or more for hot.
  • Add a little bunch of cilantro to the processor. 6-7 stems. You can also add more fresh cilantro when you serve it.
  • 1/4 tsp of salt and 1/4 tsp of pepper

Put the lid on the processor and hit "pulse" 3-4 times. I like mine a little chunky. So three is fine for my machine. Depending on your processor it may take more or less. Just pulse it till it's your desired consistency.

Dump your fresh salsa into a Tupperware bowl – put the lid on and chill for 20-30 minutes before serving. (The jalapeño peppers settle in the longer it sets too) .

This is my salsa I made tonight. So fresh and so much better than store bought.
