Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now am found…was blind but now I see! One of our most beloved Christian songs sings the glory of Gods grace and his gift of redemption. And it sings the hidden truth that we are absolutely blind to the understanding or knowledge of God outside his mercy in opening our eyes from our own spiritual blindness.
When people attack Jesus or your faith see it for what it REALLY is, spiritual blindness.
As I go about my everyday business online I am often confronted by those that do not believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and will attack my faith viciously for no reason really, other than their own inner conviction, propelling them in hatred against our beloved Savior. In a way, you feel almost sorry for them, they are spiritually blind and they wrestle in the darkness of their own ignorance knowing not what Christ has done for them and their hearts are still veiled in lust and the deception of this worlds “knowledge”. I fight not with these people, for to me, it is as vain to shake a person born blind and demand them to describe the colors of a sunset. It is as impossible for the unbeliever to understand faith – “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17 KJV. It is a biblical fact that until their spirit is quickened to understand the Word it is impossible for them to see or hear anything spiritual – they are blind.
“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.”
1 John 4:1-6 KJV
“Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.”
Matthew 13:13 KJV
“Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”
John 8:43-44 KJV
“They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.”
Isaiah 44:18 KJV
“Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.”
Matthew 13:13-16 KJV
“And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.”
Luke 8:10 KJV
“Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see, and see not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they are a rebellious house.”
Ezekiel 12:2 KJV
“For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.”
Acts 28:27 KJV
When confronted with the spiritually blind you should expect to be attacked because they are not of God and what they are of is at eternal enmity with God. All you can do is pray for their eyes and ears to be opened so that the truth can be administered to them. As they are now, they do not hold the capability to even grasp a simple truth. Thank you Jesus that you have opened my eyes, opened my ears and quickened my spirit – even when I was dead in my trespasses and sins you called to me and set me free! I no longer debate about things of faith. Some are called by God to do so – I am not. My job is to pray for all those that are spiritually blind to have their eyes opened so that they may too be saved through our Lord Jesus Christ! Pity the spiritually blind, have compassion on their situation and pray earnestly that they may see.
“And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:” Ephesians 2:1-8 KJV
We close our eyes in prayer so that theirs may be opened to prayer. 🙏🏻❤️
Yessss. That is beautiful!
Amen and so true. I feel people are warring with the Lord. They aren’t fighting me, they are fighting Him, and lash out. Love, and pray for them, God will do the heavy lifting :):) God Bless you 🙂
Great way to put it. Agreed God will do the heavy lifting. Plus I think the enemy uses it to make us angry and get in our heads for the day robbing us of the joy God has given us. I used to get so mad and offended, not anymore, I just give them to God and go about my day. God bless you!
I am the same. Now, I do try to start praying for the person, right then and there, in my head, and ask God to bless them, and to reveal Himself, in them, to me. His word says He is in all of us, so I’ve been asking Him to reveal it to me, to help me treat them the way He wants me to treat them. Not in the, “they have irritated me” way, like I want to :):) He is helping me 🙂
Amen! We are all clumps of clay on our potters wheel and he is always smoothing us out.
Beautiful insight! My son was raised in the church and he has since turned atheist. He becomes very upset when I try to talk to him but it’s no use – his spiritual being has faded. The only thing I can do is sit back and wait for something devastating to happen that will make him drop to his knees and pray. So sad….
God will bring him back, I think people may say one thing, but when faced with the nitty gritty of life they do still reach out to God. I just prayed for your son. 🙏🏻
Thank you SO much!!
