Prayer & Fasting – Supernatural Power To Conquer

2 Timothy 2:3-4 “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.”

What is your first response to trouble here in the physical world? Is it a physical reaction? Do you instantly find yourself anxious, worried or stressed when life throws you a curve ball? There are much better ways to handle situations that bring you peace and are actually productive. Respond with spiritual warfare. Count to five and remember you are a child of almighty God. He is in control and he will deliver you in his perfect timing, all you must do is move from a physical perspective to the spiritual perspective and implement the weapons you have been given to deliver yourself from any situation.

It’s Powerful. 

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,”- 2 Corinthians 10:4

It’s Effective. 

James 5:16 – “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much”

It’s Biblical. 

“pray without ceasing” – 1 Thessalonians 5: 17

Its Gods Will.

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ” – 2 Corinthians 10: 4-5. 

Why Prayer? Prayer is a humble quiet request sent to God and it makes the answer of such directly accountable to the glory and power of God and God alone. Many ask how can a little request said in the privacy of your bedroom do anything? God moves through prayer so that the evidence can only be attributed to him. It is illogical- but God glories in confounding the wise with simple things. How many things can you recount that you know are the direct result of prayers you sent up ? 

The Power of Prayer In My Life A Testimony of a Miracle…

When I was going to buy my house I had just enough saved up for the down payment. Three days before I was to close on my house, my son broke his arm. I was in between on health insurances at the time and had no coverage. I called the office of the place here that deals with these sorts of injuries and explained that I would be self paying and they told me the cost to set his arm would be $700-$1700 dollars depending on what exactly the doctors needed to do and whatever I did end up owing had to be paid on the day of the appointment. I made the appointment for the next day and I prayed for a miracle. In the physical world it looked like because of this injury I wouldn’t have the money for the down payment. 

We arrived at the doctors office and I checked in. I asked how much I would owe again and she repeated the prior quote but explained that she wouldn’t know for sure until the doctor saw him and tallied up his services and costs. She explained the doctor would give me a print out and I was to bring it to her after his arm had been set and then I would pay that amount. Shortly after we were called back and the nurse checked us in. She examined Jacobs vitals and loaded his X-rays from the emergency room onto the viewer for the Doctor. 

The Doctor joined us shortly and very quickly decided that a simple cast was going o be all he needed to fix the broken arm. The nurse helped him in setting the cast and then everyone left us alone as they went to tally up the bill. Shortly afterwards the nurse reentered the room carrying his aftercare paperwork and the bill. In a calm voice she says you owe $30. I said you are in the wrong room, I was so confused, I literally thought she had mistakenly brought us the wrong bill. She looked at the paperwork and assured me she was correct and further explained that the doctor only wanted to charge me for the supplies needed to set the arm, the plaster and gauze. She handed me the bill and told me to pay at the front desk.

Walking to the desk I started to cry. Every single column read 0’s. Next to Doctors fees…0….next to facility fees…0…every column read 0 until we came to supplies and it read $30. I asked the receptionist if I would owe more later and she assured me I would not. I had been thinking of ways to explain at closing how I didn’t have the money. I even had thought perhaps this accident was Gods way of saving me from a huge mistake in purchasing this house, maybe it was his way of preventing it. But in actuality it only reaffirmed his desires for me to move forward with the sale and it strengthened my own faith that no matter what is happening if you move forward with the Lord – he will make a way. Even when you can’t see the way, he already has it cleared out in the spiritual realm.

The Doctor didn’t have to do what he did. What I know is that God supernaturally intervenes in the favor of men. He gave me favor with this doctor and the Doctor yielded to Gods desire. I never discussed my financial needs or explained my situation to this Doctor, but for some reason, he knew to give me grace on that bill. This was absolutely only possible through God. This event stands out in my mind as one of the miracles that has happened in my life through those quiet prayers sent up from my room. How does it work? It’s supernatural, it defies the analytical mind – it’s God. It’s faith, it takes faith to send up a prayer to a God you cannot see and it takes faith to expect it to be answered. Faith and prayer walk hand in hand!

Hebrews 11:1-3  “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.”

Supercharge Your Supernatural Connection With Fasting 

Now, if you want to seriously supercharge your prayers and you are in need of a miracle or a breakthrough in your life I urge you to add fasting to your walk with God. Fasting is probably one of the most imperative spiritual weapons that believers fail to utilize. Fasting is amazing. I cannot tell you the mountains that have been moved in my life and miracles from God manifested in my own life through the sheer raw power fasting brings to our prayers.

Ahab, the most wicked King to ever live, fasted and God heard his prayers and he and his kingdom were spared. If fasting can do that for the most wicked King to ever live…what can it do for you? Nineveh fasted and repented and Gods judgment was escaped and their town saved. Esther fasted and prayed and God heard her thus was saved the Jews from dying under wicked Haman. Through fasting and prayer the situation was reversed on Haman and he was destroyed in his own wickedness. 

When I go to war in the spiritual realm…I fast.
