Sometimes I find myself getting sucked into the deeper issues of Christianity and I come through it feeling like I just walked through a pit of knee deep wet concrete and it’s slowly starting to harden. It’s heavy, it weighs me down, and it’s full of a burdening negativity. There are so many whys, what ifs and how comes in regards to Christ and how we are to relate in Him to the World around us. When I feel like that I know it’s because I’m leaning to far into my own understanding.
So what’s the remedy? A little bit of coffee & a whole lot of Jesus.
I wake up and make my coffee, spend my time in the Word, and get refreshed. It’s almost insane how refreshing that Word is. Today I read Psalm 119, what an amazing masterpiece Psalm 119 is. Davids words written ions ago are telling the story of my faith, your faith. How beautiful is it that the Bible and it’s informative holy words are so timeless. What God wrote through David – is still applicable today.
Jeremiah 31:25 – “I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.”
Gods Words are timeless, like air or water. They are as necessary and applicable today as they were when David meditated on them thousands of years ago. Nothing else on earth is as refreshing as those words to our soul. It is no wonder Christ is referred to as The Living Waters. No matter how parched, dry, cracked and depleted you feel inside those words replenish, plump up, and rejuvenate life to your inner self . You can feel it, Gods Word speaks life to you…
Psalm 23:3 ESV – “He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
In the beginning Gods Word spoke life into existence – by Gods Word the entire world and all that was in it was sprung to life. Today Gods Word speaks life to my dry, withered, weighted down soul. That’s what Gods Word is – it’s speaks life. When God says anything…it is so…and it is good. The Word is creating in me this morning a new fresh outlook of positivity of life, of hope, of love. Thank you Jesus for your Word and the way it completely refreshes my soul!
Psalm 16:8-11 ESV – “I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption. You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
John 4:14 – “But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
