Be A Mordecai Ham : Everyday Ministry Matters

You may never have heard of Mordecai Ham but without him you would have never heard of Billy Graham. Billy Graham has preached the gospel to some 2+ billion people in his lifetime, but it never would have happened had not Mordecai Ham lead him to the Lord one night in a revival in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1934. Only God knew the magnitude of the seed that was planted in young Billy that night.

You never know who you are witnessing to with your life or testimony. Do you think Mordecai Ham knew on that night in 1934 just how many people’s souls would be saved through his alter call? Perhaps when he looked down on Billy Graham from that stage all he saw was one young man, but God saw the over 2 Billion people that young man would go on to lead to Christ.

In your everyday life you meet so many people, imagine for a moment, that you truly treated your life as a ministry. Every person is an opportunity to plant a seed, and let God finish the work. You see, spreading the Gospel isn’t about having multi-billion dollar mega churches or a television evangelism show in order to reach the lost, it’s about you picking up your cross daily and allowing Jesus to work through you. God gave you everything you need to reach potentially billions of people – your voice be it written or spoken. If you are unashamed to use it for Gods Glory you could potentially lead billions of people to Christ.

Being kind, loving the Walmart greeter the same as your State Senator, giving a honest smile to the passerby opens doors for you to share the Gospel.  Helping a woman with her cart at the grocery store, or the elderly gentleman at the doctors office, gives us a chance to witness for Christ. It’s understanding that each of these encounters are divine appointments- small opportunities to show people the love they desperately long to see in this world.

We live in barren dry times in the love department today. The landscape of the news and social media feeds is a dry cracked dessert of depravity. The Lord’s love is like a gentle rain in comparison, it’s the one thing a parched soul can feel. A kind action led by the Lord can open the opportunity to share the Gospel with just about anyone. People are thirsty for real human interaction and genuine acts of kindness speak volumes.

You are called to be a witness for Christ, to be ready to give your testimony to those that want to know the reason for your joy! Be ready to share your love for the Lord not only in word but also in deed, you never know just how many people one little tiny seed will save!

  1. We all need this reminder because we often underestimate what God can do THROUGH us. When the emphasis is on joyful obedience rather than results, God still gives results and we get to enjoy watching Him do what He does best. This is great encouragement, especially for a man or lady who thinks that what he/she does is fruitless. The Word will not return void!

    1. You never ever know and you are so right we probably will be shocked when we get to see the “big picture” when we go home. Every little thing matters.

    1. Our first ministry is our relationship with the Lord…then comes our family…friends…community…world ❤️

  2. I liked your post. I liked when you said “You are called to be a witness for Christ, to be ready to give your testimony to those that want to know the reason for your joy!”

When you said, “You never know who you are witnessing to with your life or testimony.” that reminded me of when my pastor said that God will appoint people in your life. So, the fact that our lives are a testimony for God is amazing.

    1. Amen. God has GLORIOUS plans for each one of us – and even if we can’t see it right now – every little thing is for the Glory of God and we WILL see it someday.
